  • Company History in India

    Emerson was founded in 1890 in St. Louis, Missouri, as a manufacturer of electric motors and fans. Over the past 100-plus years, Emerson has grown from a regional manufacturer into a global technology solutions powerhouse. Emerson has been associated with India for over 60 years.
     
    1950s ​
    Emerson enters India with motors, to speed up a young nation’s growth.
                                                      

    1980s
    Emerson forms its first major joint venture in India, Fisher- Rosemount India, to offer process automation solutions and products.

    1990s
    Multiple Emerson businesses enter India market, primarily through joint ventures with respected Indian businesses.

    Emerson establishes global engineering centers in New Delhi and Pune to focus on control systems engineering and project management.

    2000
    Emerson buys out Fisher-Rosemount India JV and establishes Emerson Process Management India.

    2001
    Emerson buys out Liebert JV and establishes Emerson Network Power India.

    2004
    Emerson Innovation Center opened in Pune.

    2006
    Emerson buys out Copeland joint venture and establishes Emerson Climate Technologies India.

    2007
    Emerson Information Technology Solutions Center opened in Mohali.
    Emerson Network Power launches datacenter solutions in the India market.

    2008
    Emerson Process Management introduces industry-leading Smart Wireless solutions in the India market.

    2009
    Emerson acquires Trident Powercraft Ltd, a leading alternator company.

    2011
    Emerson completes buy-out of Fisher control valves joint venture and establishes Emerson Process Management Chennai.
    Emerson’s sales in India reach nearly US $700 million, with more than 8,500 employees.

    2012
    Emerson Climate Technologies introduces Copeland Scroll™ compressor technology in the residential air-conditioning market in India.
