Guangdong, China, November 13, 2014 - Sara Yang Bosco, president of Emerson Electric (NYSE: EMR) Asia-Pacific, along with other 26 volunteers from various business units, went to Fangwu village, Ruyuan county, Guangdong province to celebrate the main work completion of the Ruyuan Fangwu village home reconstruction project phase 3, which was sponsored by Emerson. Wei Xuemin, chief of the Guangdong Poverty Alleviation Office, along with the related leadership from Shaoguan city and Ruyuan county attended the ceremony.
Sara Yang Bosco said at the completion ceremony: "I'm honored to be here and to be given the opportunity to congratulate you on the main work completion of your new residential buildings. The home reconstruction project in Fangwu village, Ruyuan county is part of Emerson ChinaCharitable Program. Emerson is dedicated to contributing to the home reconstruction project and improving the living conditions of the local villagers with our donation."
The representative of the residents in Fangwu village said at the ceremony: "Today is our long-awaited moment. In the past, we all lived in adobe houses, which could offer little shelter from wind and rain; and with the aid of Emerson, the dream of living in the new home finally comes true. We will strive to create a new life, and live up to the expectations of all the caring friends from Emerson as well as other social sectors.”
In the afternoon, Sara and employee volunteers visited several villagers at their homes, and held cordial talks with them about their families as well as their past and current production and living conditions. Volunteers also sent ceiling fans, cooking oil, rice and stationery goods to local villagers, which were warmly welcomed.
In 2011, Emerson took the initiative to contact the Government of Guangdong province, and conducted on-site survey in Ruyuan, Shaoguan. In 2012, Emerson donated RMB792,000 to Ruyuan Fangwu Village Phase 3 home reconstruction project.Upon the completion of the project, a total of 57 households from Fangwuer village and Liwu village will have the opportunity to live in their own safe and new houses!
Besides the donation, Emerson has organized volunteers from its employees to offer help to Fangwu villagers several times since the initiation of the project. They participated in the new housing construction project, paid household visits, organized shows for the villagers, and helped them to plant trees in the village. Many volunteers observed that Emerson's charitable programs were carried out based on the philosophy of integrity and sincerity, and they were willing to participate in and support such programs to bring more people love and warmth.
