HONG KONG ( May 23, 2013 ) – Emerson (NYSE:EMR) announced today that, the RMB 500,000 donation pledged for the earthquake-stricken areas in Sichuan, China has been made to the affected areas, following the earlier update on Apr 22. Emerson, its business units and employees in Asia Pacific has donated a total of RMB 910,702 to the China Charity Federation, China and Hong Kong Red Cross Societies and other relief organizations for the earthquake relief effort, out of which RMB 368,077 in cash is contributed by Emerson employees.
In addition, Emerson Network Power has immediately built up an ad hoc disaster relief group and set up a coordination mechanism. The business unit has sent out engineers, technicians as well as equipment and other supplies to the disaster-stricken areas to support telecom operators in their disaster recovery work. The Emerson engineers have visited telecom operators in Ya’an area and conducted inspection on key data centers equipped with Emerson products to make sure that all potential technical issues are cleared.
China Mobile’s Ya’an office has sent a thank you letter to Emerson Network Power, acknowledging their timely support and recovery efforts. They also spoke highly of Emerson’s corporate citizenship culture.
