Washington D.C., US (July 12, 2013) – The Fifth Round of the US-China Strategic and Economic Dialogue (S&ED) was held in Washington, D.C. on July 10-11, 2013. This dialogue was the first high level meeting between the two countries following their respective general elections earlier that year. To mark the occasion, on the initiative of the US-China Business Council and the National Committee on United States-China Relations, a selection of pro-cooperation organizations hosted a dinner honoring Chinese Vice-Premier Wang Yang and State Councilor Yang Jiechi.
As a board member of the US-China Business Council, David N. Farr, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Emerson (NYSE: EMR) and Edward L. Monser, President and Chief Operating Officer attended the welcome dinner.
Monser has served as an economic advisory for Guangdong Province for a number of years. When visiting Guangdong Province to participate in the International Consultative Conference, Monser was received by Vice-Premier Wang Yang, who served as the provincial secretary of Guangdong Province. Wang had a friendly exchange with both Farr and Monser at the dinner; he spoke highly of Emerson’s investment activities in China, and the contribution to the development of the local community.
