Manila, PHILIPPINES (November 21, 2013) – Emerson (NYSE:EMR) today announced that it has made a USD 100,000 donation to aid the disaster relief efforts for those affected by Typhoon Haiyan that hit Eastern Visayas, Philippines on November 8, 2013, through the American Red Cross. This is following the earlier update on November 12.
Meanwhile, Emerson business units and employees in the Philippines have decided to scale down their year-end parties and allocated a total of PHP 3 million (approximately USD 71,000) as donation to the Philippine Red Cross and other relief organizations for the typhoon relief efforts, out of which more than PHP 500,000 (approximately USD 13,000) in cash was contributed by Emerson employees.
“I was very sad to learn of the devastating impact caused by Super Typhoon Haiyan that hit several provinces in the Philippines,” said Phil Kelaart, vice president and general manager, Emerson Manila Shared Services. “Emerson feels strongly that it is part of our corporate responsibility to give back to the country that is home to thousands of our employees, and we are pleased to be able to make this donation.”

In recent years, Emerson has supported a number of disaster relief efforts, including donations and assistance to those affected by Typhoon Ketsana in the Philippines in 2009, Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami in Japan in 2011 and the earthquake in Sichuan, China in 2013.
