  • ​Emerson Therm-O-Disc Holds Zhuhai Manufacturing Facility Opening Ceremony 

    ZHUHAI, China (March 4, 2015) –Therm-O-Disc, a business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR), today announced the grand opening of its Zhuhai manufacturing facility. Edward L. Monser, president of Emerson, James J. Lindemann, executive vice president of Emerson, Ken Russell, president of Therm-O-Disc, Sara Yang Bosco, president of Emerson Asia Pacific, and Thomas Lee, plant manager of Therm-O-Disc Zhuhai officiated the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Following the opening remarks by officiating guests, the opening ceremony ended on an auspicious note of the traditional Chinese lion dance.

    Monser said: “Emerson celebrates its 125th anniversary in 2015. Over the past 125 years, Emerson has grown and evolved into a global technology company, with a manufacturing, engineering, marketing or sales presence in more than 150 countries today. The city of Zhuhai, as one of the four earliest Special Economic Zones established in China in the early 1980s,  has today developed a large talent pool of workers and investment-friendly climate that has long attracted investment by many companies. We will continue investing in China, and together with our Therm-O-Disc plants in the United States and Mexico, Zhuhai facility enables Therm-O-Disc to serve our global, regional and local customers with innovative temperature sensors and controls that enable system reliability, efficiency, and optimization with innovative sensing technologies.”

    Russell commented at the opening ceremony: ”We have successfully moved Therm-O-Disc  from Shenzhen to Zhuhai, and created a customer-centric facility aligned with the Emerson Perfect Execution vision  within the city of Zhuhai over a very short period of time. Over the years, we have continually improved and reinvented our company to better serve the ever changing global market trends and to remain a vital and relevant part of Emerson. We are excited about the future, about delivering superior products and services to our valued customers.” 

    The new Therm-O-Disc facility at Zhuhai National Hi-Tech Zone comprises of an area of 15,000 m2. The facility houses manufacturing and E&D centers, a sales center and a procurement center. It is the largest Therm-O-Disc’s manufacturing facility in the world, and the only plant in China. The facility will be using the latest automation technology to enhance product quality, productivity and manufacturing capacity. This latest investment aims to further strengthen Emerson’s position in key industries such as telecommunications and HVAC.  These key industries are essential for the economic development of China and elevating standard of living. This new investment will further strengthen Guangdong and China as the major manufacturing and E&D Engineering & Development (E&D) base for Emerson, and reinforce the importance of the Chinese market in the global marketplace.
