Emerson interviews more than 400 MBA candidates and recent MBA degree recipients every year in the United States with the goal of finding high-potential people who have the experience, skills and enthusiasm to work in our results-oriented company.
We offer full-time paid positions and paid summer internships to a select group of MBA candidates. Oftentimes, this opportunity leads to a career at Emerson.
Full-time opportunities for recent MBA graduates
Full-time positions are offered to MBA graduates who have at least three years of prior work experience and have received their MBA within the past three years. Participation in Emerson’s MBA Leadership Program puts these people on a fast track to leadership positions within our company.
Emerson offers 35 to 40 full-time positions annually. These assignments can be at our corporate headquarters in St. Louis or at one of our businesses around the world. Initial assignments are 18 to 36 months, after which time we work to identify a new role that aligns with your career aspirations.
In 2014, new full-time MBA hires were placed in the following locations: Boulder, CO; Danbury, CT; Fort Lauderdale area, FL; Minneapolis, MN area; St. Louis, MO; Columbus and Dayton, OH; Pittsburgh, PA; and Austin, Houston and Dallas, TX.
More than 75 percent of the MBAs hired in the last 10 years have remained at Emerson and been promoted into leadership roles. In fact, David N. Farr, Emerson’s chairman, CEO and president, began his Emerson career as a participant in our MBA Leadership Program.
Summer internships for MBAs
Generally, 40 to 50 paid internship positions are offered each year to high-potential individuals currently enrolled in MBA programs at top-ranking universities. The people selected for our MBA summer internship program will gain hands-on experience while working with some of the most talented leaders in the industry. Participants have the opportunity to work with Emerson’s top management while proving themselves in a dynamic, global, corporate environment.Internships are typically offered in marketing, operations, supply chain, strategy, human resources, business development as well as other functional areas.
In 2014, summer internships for MBAs were available at Emerson facilities located in: Boulder, CO; Danbury, CT; Ocala and Fort Lauderdale, FL; Atlanta, GA; Chicago, IL; Minneapolis, MN; St. Louis, MO; Florham Park, NJ; Winston-Salem, NC; Columbus and Dayton, OH; Pittsburgh and Wilkes-Barre, PA; Lexington, TN; Austin, Houston and Dallas, TX; and Racine, WI.
Who we’re looking for
- Motivated people with strong leadership skills
- A technical undergraduate degree (preferably in engineering)
- 3-5 years of work experience (preferably in a related business or industry)
- Recipient of an MBA within the last 3 years (for full-time positions)

How Emerson recruits potential candidates
First, Emerson will make contact with interested individuals during a scheduled campus visit (see our
MBA Campus Visit Schedule).
Once interviewed on campus, selected resumes are forwarded for consideration to Emerson business units for specific career opportunities. Successful candidates are then contacted by an Emerson business unit for a second interview and a potential offer.

Initial job assignments typically offered include
Performs analysis of acquisition candidates, including valuations, pricing and deal structure. Analyst also performs economic analysis of capital investments, including ROI and P&L impact to the company and develops forecasts for long-range financial plans. Positions are at Corporate or within a business.
Human Resources/Human Resources Analyst
Performs generalist activities including recruitment and staffing, salary plan development, policy administration, interpretation of opinion surveys and development of communication plans. Positions are at Corporate or within a business.
Information Systems/Business Analyst
Defines and executes strategic programs to enhance critical business capabilities through information technology. Assignments span the disciplines of enterprise applications and analytics, global information technology infrastructure and communication services, digital customer engagement, information security, enterprise architecture strategy and governance, technology sourcing and applied information technology research. Business engagements span all corporate functions. Positions are at corporate or within a business.
Marketing/Product or Digital Marketing Manager
Assists with development and management of marketing strategies, including market research and segmentation, brand management, product management, integrated campaign management and enhancing the digital customer experience. Collaborates with sales organizations and works with multinational teams using data-driven analytics to deliver cutting-edge market development programs. Positions are within a business.
Coordinates strategic and tactical projects including manufacturing, engineering, product engineering, production control, financial and sales data analysis. Analyst identifies projects that reduce manufacturing process cost through facility layout improvements and rationalization. Positions are within a business.
Perfect Execution Analyst
Performs data analysis, supports assessments, and develops tools and methodologies to identify business process improvements. Analysts work cross functionally with sales, marketing, engineering, supply chain and operations teams to help drive performance by aligning business actions with customer needs. Positions are at Corporate or within a business.
Analyzes strategic positions of Emerson peers and competitors, identifies strategic partners and acquisitions, prepares strategy presentations for the board of directors and supports executives for Emerson’s annual Corporate Planning Conference. Planners also analyze and report on current sales forecasts and assist Corporate Development in M&A activities. Positions are at Corporate or within a business.
Supply Chain/Logistics Analyst
Assists in developing and refining Supply Chain/Logistics strategies to improve delivery performance, customer satisfaction & overall business growth. Analyzes operations, commodity, supplier and industry data to identify Supply Chain Performance opportunities. Promotes best practices and provides training support across the organization. Supports cross-team collaboration efforts. Positions may be located at Corporate or within a business.
